This week as we celebrate the Fourth of July and our freedom, first I want to express my gratitude for the courageous men and women dedicated to preserving it and pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you for your service! As I was thinking about freedom and independence, I thought of the many parallels related to our health. Good health gives us many freedoms, including the independence to enjoy the things we love or want to do in life. So, this week I want to challenge you to really think about what you need to do to “BE FREE” from any aches, pains or illnesses that are holding you back from living the life you want. Do you have the same courage and dedication to preserving and loving your health as the soldiers who protect, serve and love our country? What sacrifices do you need to make to preserve or improve your health? Maybe you need to sacrifice some time and/or money to get proper help. Maybe you need to commit to a fitness program or give up sugar. Regardless, as a Physical Therapist and Health Coach I’ve found it usually comes down to ONE or TWO problems. Problem # 1 is…you simply “don’t know what you don’t know.” If you don’t know what’s wrong, you’ve tried lots of things that didn’t work or just don’t know what to do about it, it’s time to find someone who can teach you what you need to know and help you solve the problem you have. Problem #2 is…"you aren’t doing what you DO know.” If this is you, I encourage you to find someone who can support and guide you on your journey to help you make the changes you need to make to reach your goals. No matter where you are on your health journey, small consistent changes can ultimately improve your health and set you free. Be Free…Love Your Health! Happy Independence Day! If you need some extra support on your health journey, whether it's to alleviate pain, improve your mobility or fitness, or lose weight we can help with a physical therapy or health coaching program tailored to your individual needs. Hi Dr. Julie, I would like to thank you for sharing this lovely post. I started my health journey this February, and July marks the 5th month of staying dedicated and consistent. I'm still far from my goal weight, but I'm so happy to have already lost 10 lbs in the process. It was not an easy process, there were times that I felt like giving up and going back to my old ways, but I always try to remind myself of the things I've already conquered to reach this goal. Just like what you've said, "small consistent changes can ultimately improve your health and set you free". Thank you. 7/29/2019 02:52:49 pm
Congratulations on 5 months of being dedicated to improving your health! Staying consistent isn't always easy, but YOU and your health are worth it! Keep up the good work! Comments are closed.
